Why I've been gone so long & some news!

Friends! It feels so good to be back! I promise that I have been wanting to post on here every single day, but I just haven't had the chance. The company that I work for has been in the process of re-branding, and so I have been incredibly busy. We put on an event to reveal the new logo to our employee's, and there was a lot of hard work and preparation that took place to get to ready for that event. I also had the opportunity to work at the World Ag Expo, which by the way, is ginormous! I was able to meet a lot of really awesome people there, and there were also several friends who stopped by to say hello and pick up some goodies. We just revealed our new brand to the public this week, and although things are still busy, things are starting to level out and feel semi-normal. Emphasis on the semi.

On a completely different note, I wanted to talk about a change that I've made in my life recently. Ready for it? I started eating meat again! Yes, that's right, I have turned into a meat-lovin lady. Why? Because I needed a change. I was a vegetarian for about a year in a half, and all it did was make me gain 20 pounds and feel awful. I was having digestive issues, and felt terribly yucky. As terrified as I was to start eating meat again, I knew that it was time for me to start getting some real protein in my diet, because for the majority of the time I was a vegetarian, I was eating pasta, pizza, and a whole bunch of things that weren't benefiting me at all.  If I'm being honest, I've been thinking about making this change for a long time. I knew that being a vegetarian wasn't benefiting me, but I couldn't bring myself to start eating meat again, for whatever reason I felt incredibly anxious about just the thought of it. Until I literally woke up one morning, and was like " I'm going to eat bacon," and I did, and it was amazing

On Valentines Day I picked up the book Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfilippo, and started highlighting the heck out of it. Oh. my.gosh! There is so much amazing information in this book. You must get it if you're even halfway considering a Paleo lifestyle. The book is also full of amazing recipes that totally had me at "Pumpkin Pancakes," which of course, I made right away.

I obviously don't have this whole nutrition thing completely figured out. I'm still drinking my coffee with milk that isn't raw or grass-fed, and probably filled with a ton of added hormones, but I haven't been eating any other form of dairy. I plan on getting myself some raw, grass-fed butter and milk to enjoy soon, though.  I already feel so much better cutting out all of the bad, processed carbs that I've been practically injecting into my veins since I was old enough to chew, and I can tell that my digestive system is well on it's way to not being over-worked.

Do you feel good about what you're eating? What's your take on the Paleo lifestyle?

  1. Hi lady! New to your blog and thought this post was funny. I was actually a vegetarian for a year and then started eating meat again too. :) Also, Alyssa (spelled with one l) is on our list for baby girls name! :)
